Swing sets help kids stay active and healthy
Kids need exercise just as much as adults do. Unless you’ve got yourself an early developing athlete, you won’t find them doing pushups and sit ups in their room or running laps around the backyard. A great way to help keep your children in shape is to install a Wood Swingset in your backyard. Swing sets are great because they give young people a chance to get some exercise while having fun. It doesn’t matter if you have an only child, or a many children, a customizable wood play set will give them a chance to stay active, keep fit and have fun doing it.
You may already have some exercise equipment in the garage, or even a weight room in your home, but those items do not contain much appeal for most children. A Wood Swingset is wonderful because you can choose to add or remove any segment that you choose. Items like monkey bars are a good choice because of their inherent exercise value. Of course it is fun to swing across from one side to the other, but the bars can also be used for pull ups. Chin ups are not the most exciting of exercises on their own but when you get to do them on a piece of play equipment it’s easier to make a game out of it.
Wood Swingsets are a great way to inspire competition amongst young children. With a little imagination, kids can come up with all sorts of games that will allow them to get in a good workout outdoors while they are playing and getting some sunshine. A swing set can also help your kids develop hand eye coordination. Learning to pump their legs on the swings to gain momentum or going across the monkey bars. These types of activities will also strengthen the upper body and prepare them for more strenuous activities that they will be faced with at school and during sports later in life.

Whip your backyard into shape
A Wood Swingset can be a wonderful addition to your backyard décor whether you live in a big city or a small country town. If you are fortunate enough to have a yard at all you will want to put a lot of effort into its appearance. As a major extension of your home, the backyard is big part of your personal expression as it pertains to your living space. Worst case scenario: your yard becomes a weed-infested storage area with no personality and no real pragmatic purpose other than holding your seldom used items and refuse. Instead, unlock its true potential and make your backyard a place where you can relax and entertain.
The first step in decorating your backyard and turning it into a place that you can be proud of is to clean it up and get things organized. A storage shed can help you to remove some of the bigger eye sores like garbage cans, portable barbeque pits and other large items that may be necessary but only used for special occasions or certain seasons. Get the kids involved by moving some of their larger toys from inside to the backyard. Play tents, small bicycles and other big recreation items could be kept outside as a complement to a Wood Swingset instead of cluttering up the living room or garage.
It can be a huge task restoring order to a big backyard. There are a few things you can do to motivate yourself into getting the job done in a timely manner. One trick is to schedule a party or gathering at your house within the next few months and tell your guests that it will be held outdoors. The pressure of knowing your yard will soon be on display may be just the thing to spring you into action. You don’t necessarily have to go all out spending big money on furniture and decorations. Check your local papers for second hand items or go by a few garage sales and you might be surprised at the bargains you will find.

Reach hard to find exotic locations via Zip Line
Often used as means of fun and entertainment, zip lines are sometimes used as a necessary means of transportation. Utilizing the natural force of gravity, a zip line allows the rider to access a remote area from an area of higher elevation. A pulley hangs from a heavy duty cable, and attached to the pulley is some sort of basket or passenger car. From traversing deep canyons to accessing hidden rain forest canopies, zip lines can turn an ordinary vacation into a first class adventure that you will not soon forget.
The longest zip line in the world is in South Africa. It stretches across 1.2 miles and starts at also happens to be world’s highest zip line, starting out at 280 meters off the ground. Riders can reach speeds in excess of 140 kilometers per hour. If you have ever had the pleasure of riding on a Zip Playset then you know just how exhilarating the experience can be.
There are zip line adventures waiting for you in Hawaii, Colorado, Ohio, and many other destinations, but perhaps the most popular of all the zip line canopy tours is in Costa Rica. Featuring some the most beautiful natural outdoor scenery, these zip line tours are quickly gaining popularity among thrill seeking vacationers. Unlike parasailing, hang gliding, sky diving, bungee jumping and other daredevil like activities, zip lines are less risky because they rely less on cooperation from Mother Nature and are less dependent on you conquering the elements. If you can get over any fear of heights that you may have, then really all you have to do is relax and hang on.
A Zip Playset will usually take the rider a maxim of about 100 feet. This small distance will only whet your appetite for one of these spectacular zip line experiences which will allow you to travel 450 feet or more.

Fly high and stay safe with zip line playsets
Zip lines can be a lot of fun for the whole family, but it is vital to follow all of the installation and safety instruction exactly to prevent any possible injuries. A Zip Playset can provide a dynamic and invigorating playtime experience, but because of the high speed and intense nature of this type of recreational equipment, safety precautions are especially important. Not every yard or play area is large enough to accommodate a zip line, so be sure to take all necessary measurements before making a purchase. Most require about 90 feet from the starting point to end point, but double check the packing materials and compare their dimensions to your yard before installation.
A Zip Playset can be very exciting and it is understandable to want to try it out as soon as possible but the first rule of safety is not to attempt to ride on the zip line before it is completely installed by an adult and you have been given permission to do so. The person that assembled the zip should probably be the first to try it out, provided they meet the weight requirements. Most have a limit of 250 pounds or less. There should only be one rider at a time, even if the combined weight of all the riders is less than the maximum capacity. Always hold on to the handle bars tightly with two hands, and make sure your grip is firm before beginning your ride. It is best to begin your ride from a flat, stable platform. If your yard does have such an area, then it is a good idea to construct one for safe take offs and landings.
Only use the zip line for the purpose for which is it was intended. This rule holds true for all play equipment, but it especially important to not alter the equipment in any way or try to hang any additional ropes from the zip line or to the zip itself. Before riding, check your clothing to make sure there are no potential hazards; any loose hanging articles like scarves, neck ties, ponchos or anything else could potentially get stuck in your Zip Playset.
It is not a good idea to ride on the zip line at night, or when it is too dark to see anything. Never ride the zip while it is wet, so during the rainy months it is probably a good idea to take the whole thing down so it doesn’t get ruined. Before installing your zip, double check your tools and make sure you have all the necessary equipment so you can assemble the whole thing in one sitting. Once you unpack the zip, everyone will be anxious to try it out. So be safe, be prepared and have fun.

Physical activity improves health and increases mental focus in young people
Recess is not just a break from school work and a time for teachers to grade papers. Physical exercise is necessary to encourage healthy bodies and active minds. The American Heart Association among other government agencies has been officially recommending strenuous exercise to promote strong immune systems and the prevention of serious diseases in young people across the country. It is a widely accepted fact that inactivity and poor eating habits contribute to the high cholesterol, elevated blood pressure and even diabetes. By setting a good example and by creating structured physical activities for grade school children, our education system can better equip young people with a solid foundation for a healthy lifestyle when they are older.
Kids are not likely to do jumping jacks on their own or voluntarily run laps around a track. Unfortunately, there is just not enough of an entertainment factor. And, since physical education class is only held once or twice a week, it is important to encourage exercise everyday by having safe, quality playground equipment at every elementary school. A Playground Swingset along with other age appropriate play equipment provides a medium for exercise without needing an adult to facilitate the action. There should always be at least one adult supervising young children as they play on the playground, but the kids are able to have fun and get exercise without any particular leadership or structured activity.
A Playground Swingset offers many different opportunities for cardiovascular exercise that will improve general health as well as help to prevent certain disorders. Regular physical activity also helps increase mental acuity and the ability to focus. Some instances of mild hyper activity could be addressed with more regular physical activity and exercise instead of medication. Kids are less likely to be squirming around in their seats during class if they have had sufficient activity at recess and the lunch break.

Asthma doesn’t have to stop your kids from being active
Asthma is serious condition that affects one’s ability to breathe properly but if your child has been diagnosed with this ailment, take comfort in the fact that it can be controlled and it doesn’t have to slow you down much or at all. With the right care and treatment, asthmatics can be just as active as everyone else and lead normal productive lives with little inconvenience. The good news is that most will grow out of their asthma by early adulthood, but until then it is important have a good physician that is experienced in dealing with asthma and can counsel you and your child about all the precautions you should take as well prescribe any necessary medication.
Some cases are so severe that sports are unfortunately not an option. But for most asthmatic children, sports is allowed and even encouraged because physical activity can strengthen the muscles used for breathing as well as improve lung function. If you take all the proper precautions, it should be perfectly fine to enjoy physical education class, the Playground Swingset, and other outdoor activities that all young children enjoy. Be sure to consult a doctor before beginning any physical activity or exercise routine if your child has been diagnosed with asthma or if you notice any difficulty breathing.
Normal, common sense precautions are especially important for asthma sufferers. Stretching and warming up before strenuous exercise helps to prepare the body for a workout and allows for proper circulation to the lungs. Bundling up in cold weather is also necessary and it is helpful to breathe in through the nose and out of the mouth, this way air has a chance to warm up before entering the lungs. Cold air can irritate the lungs and bring about an attack. If you notice any labored breathing, then slow down and take it easy. Talk to your doctor about when and how to use an inhaler to alleviate the asthma symptoms associated with strenuous exercise.

Reduce Playground Injuries With Swingset Safety
When children think of the playground, they think of swings, jungle gyms, monkey bars, running, jumping, yelling and playing with their friends and classmates. Basically fun and games. Adults, on the other hand, tend to focus on slips and falls, scrapes and bruises, collisions and broken bones. This is natural. Parents and responsible adults need to be looking out for the safety of their children, because most kids are not exactly safety conscious, even if they are well behaved and otherwise responsible. Granted you cannot be with your children every moment of every day, but you should still have working knowledge of playground equipment and how to make sure they are safe for your kids. This way you can work with teachers, aids and supervisors to ensure the safest possible environment for children to play. Here is a quick checklist pertaining to the Playground Swingset and other equipment that children typically encounter on any given day at school or at the park.
Supervision should be present at All Times
The younger the children are, the more supervision is required to keep them safe. Adults should be watching for healthy and positive interaction. Make sure there is no bullying or risky behavior taking place. Also, adults need to constantly inspect the equipment. Some things to look out for are loose ropes or strings that can cause injury and/or strangulation. Ropes on jungle gyms should be securely fastened at both ends and should not be any long strings hanging from the children’s clothing while playing. If play time should get too rambunctious, or the kids are using the equipment in ways it was not designed to be used, then an adult should intervene immediately.
Is the equipment age appropriate?
Preschoolers should have play equipment that is separate from the grade school children. They are not on the same level physically or developmentally and their play equipment should reflect those differences. Smaller children naturally look up to the bigger kids and will try to emulate their behavior. This can cause safety hazards if the little ones are allowed to play on a Playground Swingset that is designed for an older age group.
What kind of surface is the ground surrounding the play area?
Approximately 3 out of every 4 playground injuries are due to a fall, usually from a piece of equipment onto the ground. The severity of these injuries can be dramatically reduced by choosing a more forgiving surface to help cushion falls. Mulch, pea gravel, sand, rubber mats and some other soft synthetic materials are all acceptable surfaces that will help save kids from painful injuries. Concrete, asphalt, rocks, dirt, and even grass are not ideal because they are too hard and most likely result in injury in the event that children fall from a Playground Swingset or any other piece of equipment.
Regular Maintenance and Safety Checks
Lastly, Splintered wood, rusted metal, loose rope, protruding screws and bolts, and other structural problems can cause injuries if play equipment is not regularly maintained. It is vital to inspect all playground equipment for such problems on a regular basis to ensure that children have the safest environment possible.

Use a swingset to get your children off the couch and into the backyard
In the spring and summer months, there are more daylight hours available and they should never go to waste. Too often, children are allowed to remain indoors all day, cooped up in their rooms or in front of the television set. In harsh winter storms this may be a necessity, but when the weather is nice it is important for young people to get out of doors and spend some time enjoying nature. All able-bodied people should feel obligated to get fresh air everyday and spend some time under the sun. If you happen to live in a region that observes daylight saving time, then the extra hours of daylight are that much more pronounced.
Some kids love to be outside. They enjoying riding bikes, climbing trees, or playing sports with their friends, and that is great. Other kids need some persuasion to put the remote control down, or get away from their computer, or get their nose out of a book. This is not to say that children should be discouraged from reading or studying, but there should be a balance between indoor and outdoor activities, should the weather be pleasant. If you have kids that would rather spend the day in their rooms instead of in the backyard, here is an idea that might inspire them to go outside and play:
A Wooden Swingset is a great way to lure the kids out of the house. They come in all shapes and sizes and many can be customized to fit your space needs and your children’s preferences for play equipment. It can also be a fun family project to assemble the structure and it also will give the kids a sense of accomplishment having helped to build something.
Most young children go through a phase when all they want is to have a tree house. Every weekend they will beg and plead for their parents to buy some wood and help them build a fort up in the oak tree. This can be quite an involved process. If you are not the handy man type or not someone who enjoys spending hours at the home improvement store, then building a tree house is probably just not in the cards. The great thing about a Wooden Swingset is that is can satisfy that desire for a tree house without the hassle of having to actually build one. It is made out of wood first of all, so it’s got that rugged outdoor feel to it. If you choose the kind that has a fort built in then you may be able to kill two birds with one stone. Most kits will come with all the necessary materials, you just need to have a few tools and supply the man power to put it together.
